VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) is basically a phone service over the internet, with good quality internet connections phone services can be delivered over an internet connection, instead of using analogue or digital phone line. VoIP services are usually much cheaper than traditional telephone services.

Hosted or Cloud Telephony provides all the features and facilities of a traditional inhouse telephone system with added flexibility, the telephones are connected to the system through the internet, meaning home or remote workers effectively appear as office based.

You will need a broadband connection such as ADSL2/FTTC, the speed will be determined by how many simultaneous voice calls are required.

SIP trunking is the delivery of inbound and outbound phone calls over a data connection using session initiation protocol (SIP). Simply it is dial tone over the Internet.


SIP Trunks are the future for voice calls especially since BT announced in 2015-16, from 2020 you will no longer be able to purchase ISDN lines with a target date of 2025 for switch off.
